The everlasting new presenters of ITV’s Morning are set to be Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard. Although the pair have each introduced the present, they haven’t appeared on the couch collectively. However, that doesn’t appear to have deterred ITV bosses from signing them up.

Why I hear you ask? Well, a supply informed The Sun that “Cat really impressed when she came in, and Ben is a consummate professional and hugely popular with the housewife demographic. He’s an extremely safe pair of hands, has real gravitas and doesn’t have a whiff of scandal around him – he’s purer than pure. Cat is the number one target to replace Holly, but negotiations are ongoing.”

Mmm, while I don’t disagree that Ben Shephard may very nicely ‘be an extremely safe pair of hands,’ while I’ve nothing towards him, I’m not positive I agree that he has ‘real gravitas,’ and as for not having a ‘whiff of scandal around him’ an apparent dig towards Phillip Schofield, dare I say it, doesn’t that merely make him as uninteresting as uninteresting may be?

Now, you could say ‘safe’ and ‘bland’ is exactly what This Morning needs, but I would totally disagree with you. I have written several times before how I feel the format of the show is tired and either needs to be dramatically changed or the programme needs to end and be replaced with something new and innovative.

As for Cat Deeley replacing Holly Willoughby alongside Ben Shephard as the new permanent host of This Morning, again I have nothing against Cat as I of course remember her as the presenter of the ITV show SMTV Live with Ant & Dec. However, I think again ITV bosses have gone for a ‘safe’ alternative and sadly ‘safe’ doesn’t imply that she’s going to entice extra viewers. On the opposite, I feel Cat and Ben will trigger This Morning not solely to stagnate much more, however the viewing figures will decline.

I personally suppose it might have been a much better concept for Cat Deeley to be chosen alongside her husband Patrick Kielty as probably they may have tried to be the brand new husband and spouse duo, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan. However, in truth, I nonetheless don’t suppose they might have been the fitting alternative. This Morning bosses ought to have been braver and opted for presenters who have been ‘new’ and thrilling.’ Yes I perceive they wish to maintain onto their present viewers, however with a purpose to develop and entice new viewers, they should be bolder or they threat the very attainable likelihood that This Morning will come to an finish very very quickly!
