Cat curfew charges to use from this Saturday

THE celebration is over for questioning domesticated felines, with Wellington Shire Council to impose charges for cat owners who don’t stick to the 24-hour cat curfew from this Saturday, July 1.

The 24-hour cat curfew was executed on January 19 this year, with a six-month amnesty to provide owners time to put ideal cat containment determines into location at home. Cat owners are asked to be alert of enforcement activities starting.

Under the curfew conditions, a fine of $192 can be provided if your cat is left roaming outdoors your property border, however owners might be fined as much as $577 for constant breaches, as described listed below:

First incident: any place possible the cat will be gone back to its signed up owner.

Second incident: cat returned and cautioning provided.

Third incident: cat seized and/or violation provided.

Council says it’s important the cat is signed up so it can be returned home.

Council will constantly attempt to return a lost cat to its home by inspecting if it’s signed up and has microchip information.

If the owner can’t be reached, it will be required to the Animal Aid shelter in Sale.

Once there, the Animal Aid group will try to locate the owners or discover the cat a brand-new family as quickly as they can.

If a cat is required to the animal shelter, there will be a charge to arrange its release. Fees depend upon whether the cat was signed up or desexed when it was discovered.
