Bill Hader joins animated adaptation of The Cat In The Hat along with Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson

Bill Hader has been cast in the upcoming animated adaptation of The Cat In The Hat to voice the titular character.

The 45-year-old actor previously played the Dr. Seuss character from the 1957 children’s book in a live-action Saturday Night Live skit in 2014.

Hader will star in the movie from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation along with Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry and Paula Pell, according to an article on Monday by Deadline.

The Cat In The Hat has a scheduled theatrical release date of March 6, 2026.

The animated version will follow The Cat as he attempts to cheer up a pair of siblings who are struggling with moving to a new town.

Hader also will serve as an executive producer along with Susan Brandt, who is the president and CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises.

Alessandro Carloni and Art Hernandez are the directors and wrote the screenplay and it is being produced by Daniela Mazzucato and Jared Stern.

Theodor Geisel, using the pen name Dr. Seuss, wrote and illustrated the 1957 children’s book The Cat In The Hat.

Hader played The Cat in the 2014 SNL skit ‘The Cat in the Hat and Linda’ that featured Cecily Strong as Linda and Aidy Bryant and Pete Davidson as her children.

After Linda’s children imagine Cat in the Hat into existence, it becomes clear their mother had a relationship with The Cat who fathered one of her children.

Mike Myers, 60, starred in a 2003 live-action adaptation of The Cat In The Hat that was widely panned by critics.

Brunson, 34, is the creator, co-writer and star of the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary.

She was honored over the weekend at the NAACP Image Awards with Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series and her show won Outstanding Comedy Series.

Yang, 33, is a cast member on Saturday Night Live.

English actor Berry, 49, recently has starred in the comedy horror series What We Do In The Shadows.
