Amusing First Look Teaser for ‘Ghost Cat Anzu’ Japanese Anime Film

“A once-in-a-lifetime summer season.” GKids has revealed the primary look teaser trailer for a Japanese animated movie titled Ghost Cat Anzu, arriving to look at later in 2024. This initially premiered on the 2023 Annecy Film Festival final 12 months as a work-in-progress challenge. It’s now completed and able to debut in Japan this summer season. It’s a rotoscoped 2D animation movie that is co-directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita, who usually makes live-action movies. The Japanese cinema grasp Nobuhiro Yamashita x rising star of anime world Yôko Kuno x world-renowned artist Mirai Moriyama create a “monster cat”! The anime is about an amusing friendship shared between Karin, a strong-minded lady despatched to reside along with her monk granddad within the Japanese countryside, and Anzu, the even-more unpredictable phantom feline who acts as her guardian. Mirai Moriyama voices the titular Anzu, and Noa Gotō voices Karin. Both performed their characters live-action that grew to become the reference for the animators, with each their dialogue and their actions being transformed into the ultimate footage. This feels like a lot enjoyable! Just a brief teaser to begin with out a lot footage – however I’m curious sufficient already.

Karin, 11 years old, is deserted by her father at her grandfather’s home, the monk of a small city within the Japanese countryside. Her grandfather asks Anzu, his jovial and useful though moderately capricious ghost cat, to take care of her. The assembly of those two sturdy characters causes sparks, a minimum of firstly… Ghost Cat Anzu, initially often known as 化け猫あんずちゃん in Japanese, is co-directed by the 2 Japanese filmmakers Yôko Kuno (character designer / storyboard artist / director on “Land of the Lustrous” sequence) & Nobuhiro Yamashita (director of many movies together with Hazy Life, No One’s Ark, Ramblers, Cream Lemon, Linda Linda Linda, The Matsugane Potshot Affair, A Gentle Breeze within the Village, My Back Pages, The Drudgery Train, Misono Universe, Over the Fence, My Uncle, Takayuki Yamada, Hard-Core, One Second Ahead One Second Behind, Let’s Go Karaoke!, and many different sequence). The screenplay is written by Shinji Imaoka; based mostly on the manga by Takashi Imashiro. Produced by Shin-ei Animation (Japan) and Miyu Productions (France). The movie opens first in Japan in July 2024 this summer season by way of Toho Animation. GKids Films will then launch Ghost Cat Anzu taking part in in choose US theaters later in 2024 – keep tuned for updates.
