Adoption charge lowered or eradicated for dogs, cats as max-capacity Minneapolis shelter seeks to create space

Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC), the city-run animal shelter in Minneapolis, has waived and lowered pet adoption charges because it seeks to create space within the shelter, which is at most capability.

This month, MACC introduced Minneapolis residents pays $0 in adoption charges when adopting a canine over six months of age or a cat. For non-residents, canine adoption charges have been lowered from $250 to $100 and cat adoption charges have been lowered from $100 to $25.

The charge to undertake a puppy lower than six months old is $250 for each residents and non-residents. Small animal adoption charges are $10 no matter residence.

Adopters do nonetheless have to pay any charges to get a metropolis license for his or her pet.

“We want adoptions to occur so we might help different animals that want us proper now,” MACC’s shelter supervisor Danielle Joerger mentioned in a press release on the shelter’s web site. “With being so full and the adoption charge discount, we hope individuals will come discover their new pets.”
