Thousands of revellers from Burnley and throughout the North West made a bee-line for the club famous for its turning phase, substantial dancefloor and insane competitors and charm contests.
An renowned place at the foot of Centenary Way, the late Mike Connolly, who passed away in 2018, was credited with putting the town’s night life on the map when he saved the club from closure in 1977 and changed it into a clubbing capital.
Along with it being a significant draw for clubbers, Mike and assistant supervisor John Wood dealt with the general public to family enjoyable days at their place for those who might not pay for a summer season vacation, providing fairground flights, donkey flights and coconut shacks.
