- Thousands of commenters insisted that the senior cat deserves the treat
A pet owner has gone viral after revealing his 18-year-old cat loves to chow down on potato tacos from Taco Bell — minus the spicy chipotle sauce.
TikTok user @rignpm04 posted a 15-second video of himself bringing his cat Zaly her go-to taco order on Sunday to the delight of viewers.
‘Whenever we get Taco Bell, we have to get a potato taco for our 18-year-old senior cat,’ he explained in the on-screen text.
The footage shows him walking the Taco Bell bag down the hallway and into the bedroom where Zaly is waiting for him.
When he places the bag on the bed, she immediately starts sniffing at it. She can’t wait to dig in as he unwraps the paper and opens the tortilla for her.
Zaly is happily licking the lettuce inside her potato taco at the end of the clip, which has been viewed a whopping 3.1 million times in one day.
The viral video has also received more than 3,000 comments from fans who are convinced that Taco Bell is the senior cat’s secret to eternal life.
‘This cat is gonna live to 27 just so they can eat more potato tacos,’ one person joked, while another added, ‘Bestie I think you just found the key to feline immortality.’
‘She’s 18, obviously something is keeping her immortal and I’m gonna bet on the Taco Bell,’ someone else agreed.
A number of cat lovers also opened up about the treats their senior cats loved, from ice cream to cooked shrimp.
Zaley celebrated her 18th birthday last month, and many agreed that she deserved the treat — even some veterinarians and veterinary technicians who would usually be opposed.
‘As a vet assistant normally I don’t like these videos but this one’s fine let her have her Taco Bell,’ one TikTok user wrote.
‘I used to be a veterinarian and this cat deserves a potato taco,’ another added.
Taco Bell’s spicy potato taco features a flour tortilla filled with seasoned potato bites, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and chipotle sauce.
Some people pointed out that certain spices such as garlic and onion powder are toxic to cats, which are also supposed to avoid carbohydrates and cheese.
However, @rignpm04 explained in the comments that she only gets her tacos filled with lettuce and potatoes — and ‘only on special occasions.’
‘Usually I’d be like “carbs are not good for cats” but she’s ancient,’ one person noted. ‘She lived that long she can eat what she wants at that age.’
