‘Wonderful’ effort avoids big Church Stretton wildfire infecting bird nesting websites

Fire teams invested 4 hours fighting the aspects as high winds worked up the flames and trees were fired.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service stated there was no indicator of a cause at this time however a fire examination will begin when all firefighting operations have actually stopped.

Re-inspections occurred throughout Tuesday night and teams were still on scene on Wednesday early morning as more locations were spotted.

Jan McKelvey, Head of Preservation Shropshire Wildlife Trust, stated: “We are grateful that the fire was put out rapidly by the Fire and Rescue teams as the National Trust has actually made every effort difficult to offer the best environment for a large range of wildlife on the Long Mynd.
