If you’ve been on Twitter just lately (and no, I can’t be calling it X), you’ve witnessed the turmoil brought on by everybody’s favourite large hen, Big Bird, now being everybody’s favourite small hen. Big Bird, a local of Sesame Street, New York City, posted on January 24 asking for assist to make him large Big Bird once more.

Some eagle-eyed customers grew to become hawkish concerning the lack of media protection, bird-calling out anti-Sesame Street bias in reporting. Even Bert and Ernie acquired concerned within the on-line drama!

The wild Big Bird chase has led our feathered pal to new heights, together with visiting an ant and his pal Baby Bear (or, Big Bear?). Even with none consideration from the information, this little birdie continued to put up about his adventures being the world’s smallest hen:

He’s even being ignored by his lifelong pal, Snuffleupagus, who walked proper previous him, performing like he didn’t exist (we’ve all been there, Big Bird!). Even with this horrible betrayal, nothing has stopped Big Bird from sustaining that optimism everyone knows and love.

This Big Bird quandary has opened up our eyes to disparities in authorities funding. At a time when the United States is spending $857 billion on our navy (in comparison with the $465 million the federal authorities allocates to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting), we should be doing extra to guard America’s most influential hen. Are we a nation of warmongers or massive warblers?

At the federal degree, we must be calling our congressional representatives to encourage extra funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and PBS. At a state degree, we should encourage New York Governor Kathy Hochul to authorize the National Guard to analyze this fowl foul play.

Big Bird has repeatedly requested for our assist in bringing extra consideration to his little-Big Bird downside, and with out “downsizing” the impression this has on little birds all over the place, I’m going to offer some sources on the right way to help Big Bird in these small-scale instances.

  1. Use the #HelpBigBird tag to get it trending! Big Bird has particularly requested us to proceed to unfold the phrase concerning the rising downside of his shrunken dimension!
  2. Call your consultant! You can discover your Congressional representative or U.S. Senator, together with workplace cellphone numbers or constituent companies e mail addresses.
  3. Maintain your hope: if Big Bird remains to be capable of preserve optimism regardless that he’s now a fleeting feathered pal, then all of us should take a feather from his cap – or wing? – and proceed on. A bit of hen within the hand is price two within the bush!

All of this to say, discovering Big Bird is not for the birds!

Editor’s Note: Since the writing of this text, fortunately the hen previously often known as Little Big Bird has been made large once more. However, as a result of stellar high quality of reporting on this subject, now we have determined to maneuver ahead with publishing this piece.
