CHICAGO (CBS) — A U.S. military aircraft was required to go back to Midway International Airport after removing late Monday.
As CBS 2’s Kris Habermehl reported, the aircraft– which is painted blue and white and checks out “United States of America” on the fuselage– becomes part of a fleet that flies out of Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to support federal government objectives worldwide.
It was unclear late Monday why the aircraft remained in Chicago, however it left from Midway. The Federal Air travel Administration verified the strategy, a military C-37 went back to the airport after a reported bird strike.
Air crewmen came out right away after the aircraft landed and parked.
Ramp workers were analyzing the aircraft at the airport– consisting of the leading edges of the port side wing and likewise the nose.
