Northern bobwhite quail launched at Letterkenny Army Depot
The Pa. Game Commission launched wild northern bobwhite quail March 19, 2024, at Letterkenny Army Depot. The species was extirpated from the state.
SOMERSET ― The Somerset Conservancy will host a Birds of Forest and Fields walk May 11 in honor of International Migratory Bird Day. It will begin at 8 a.m. at 174 Craig Road (entrance of Kimberly Run Natural Area) on the Blue Trail to seek for forest birds.
At about 9:30-10 a.m. the group will drive over to the Menser addition, 583 Menser Road, to KRNA to walk round one of many fields to seek for extra open nation birds. This is often the height of migration, and with slightly assist from the climate they hope to see or hear 30 to 40 or extra chicken species.
The host for the walk will likely be Jeff Payne, with maybe another native birders. Sturdy walking sneakers, binoculars (a few spares will likely be available), insect repellent, and a bottle of water are really useful. Those can take part in the entire walk or both half as desired.
