Coral Leisure Centre in Arklow was alive with the sights and sounds of native and unique birds when the Arklow and District Bird Keepers Society held its annual fowl present.
The two-day occasion was an enormous success, with fowl lovers from throughout Ireland bringing over 1,300 birds, together with mull and hybrid birds, international and native birds, and a variety of Border, Irish Fancy, Gloster and Fife Canaries.
The large present, held in honour of late Bird Keepers Society member Tom Larkin, was open to the general public over the weekend and attracted a giant crowd, who got here to admire the large variety of birds on show.
The present culminated with an awards presentation the place excellent specimens throughout numerous classes have been honoured.
David Lyons received the Best Native award, Colm Southern from Carnew acquired the Border Canaries award, and Jon and Freddie Quinn from Wicklow received the Irish Fancy Canary class.
Arklow man Aaron Wall was given the award for Best Gloster Canary, whereas Paul Martin from Dublin (Norwich Canary), David Healy from Bray (Fife), Des O’Brien (Zebra Finches), Philip Mohally and John and Peter Sherlock from Dublin (Foreign), Billy Clare (Colour Canary) and Logan O’Toole (hybrid class) from Wicklow have been additionally honoured.
Organisers thanked everybody who attended the “hugely successful show”, extending their gratitude to the volunteers who helped out throughout the weekend, Paul Sutton from the Deck Coffee House and employees and administration at Coral Leisure Centre for his or her help.
