- Marcus Paul Bird flashed his genitals at a teen KFC worker
- He has called the vile act the ‘stupidest decision of my life’
A school teacher has been convicted of exposing his penis to a teenage KFC worker while intoxicated – a move he has dubbed the ‘stupidest decision of my life’.
Marcus Paul Bird, 36, who worked at The Heights school in Modbury Heights, Adelaide, pleaded guilty to indecent behaviour as he faced Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Bird admitted to the act, which occurred at a Everard Park KFC drive thru on June 11, 2022, after initially denying he was behind it, The Advertiser reported.
The court heard the now former teacher was being served by the 17-year-old female victim at the drive-thru.

Bird started making ‘suggestive comments’ towards the girl before rolling down his car window and exposing his penis, according to a police prosecutor.
The worker said in a victim impact statement that she was disgusted and felt violated by Bird’s grotesque behaviour.
‘I was too scared to go back to the serving area in case it happened again,’ she said.
Bird was arrested a month after the incident and was stood down from his job at The Heights school.
The public school’s principal, Nigel Gill, told parents in a letter: ‘The teacher has been directed away from the workplace and instructed not to attend the school pending the outcome of the police investigation and prosecution.’
Bird’s employment was eventually terminated and his teaching career has come to an end.
He taught English and Languages at the school and was even the Year 10 coordinator at one stage.
Bird’s defence lawyer, James Marcus, said his client was embarrassed over the incident, which he called the ‘stupidest decision of my life’.

Mr Marcus told the court that his client had a ‘serious accident’ while competing in cycling where he broke his neck and pelvis.
It resulted in Bird developing post traumatic stress disorder and an alcohol addiction, according to his lawyer.
Magistrate Kym Millard said Bird’s drunken state was not an excuse for committing the vile act. However, he did consider the former teacher’s clean record during sentencing.
Bird was sentenced to a $1000, two year good behaviour bond.
