“It is the very first genuine record of the incident of this types in the lower elevation at an elevation of 52 metres above the mean sea level (MSL) and likewise in the Gangetic plains in Bihar. Therefore, we are really thrilled after the discovery of the unusual bird types,” Gupta informed PTI.
As far as available records, Tytler’s leaf Warbler follows an altitudinal migration, he said.
“It types in the western Himalayas, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand at the high elevation. In winter season, it moves to southern India, especially in the Western Ghats and the Nilgiris,” he said.
Earlier, the types was sometimes spotted in the Saurashtra and Morbi area of Gujarat, Panna and Melghat tiger reserves and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary (Karnataka), the forest authorities said.
“Collection of the types from Etawah (on April 7, 1879) and Gorakhpur (February 18, 1910) is the easternmost existing record of the types reported throughout return migration,” the chief wildlife warden said, including, after that, ‘no sighting of Tytler’s leaf Warbler has actually been tape-recorded’ from this location.
