A plea for assist has gone out from a number one Horsham customer attraction.
Huxley’s Birds of Prey Centre wants to boost money to assist look after its birds and animals and to allow enchancment and growth plans to go forward.
The centre – inside Hilliers Garden Centre in Brighton Road – was based in 1993 by chicken lover Julian Ford who developed it from what was as soon as a dumping website into an award-winning backyard and much-loved home for falcons, eagles, hawks, buzzards, owls, vultures – and different animals.
Fellow bird-lover Luke Lloyd took over the centre when Julian died in 2021. “I first came here 21 years ago at the age of 15,” mentioned Luke. “Julian became almost like a father figure.” And now he’s maintaining Julian’s legacy and dream alive.
But, he says, the centre desperately wants pressing consideration and a makeover. He has launched a fundraiser to assist. See https://gofund.me/4c0145d0
“Huxley’s is a not for revenue organisation, counting on superb volunteers who quit their day trip of affection and fervour for the superb animals we now have right here,” says Luke.
Huxley’s has not too long ago launched meerkats to its menagerie and hopes to tackle extra animals, together with lemurs and different creatures. It can also be deliberate to introduce a ‘nocturnal room’ with fruit bats and rodents, and a tropical home.
Luke added: “We are also looking to raise funds to enhance our CCTV system to keep our birds safe but to also give visitors a live experience online to our birds, revamp and enhance their enclosures, replace furniture around the site and overall make it a fun, vibrant and unique experience.”
