Police say there isn’t a trigger for concern after a “deliberate hen cull” sparked a firearm sighting and University of Auckland alert to evacuate components of its metropolis campus.
Earlier, the college stated an “armed offender” was seen on the campus. In an update simply after 9am, a police spokesperson clarified the scenario.
“Police have confirmed {that a} reported sighting of a firearm on the University of Auckland campus this morning associated to a deliberate hen cull within the space.
“There is not any threat to public security and no trigger for concern.”
