Haven’t upgraded the Twitter app on your phone yet? Well good news, my friend, as you may be sitting on a small fortune.

Ever since the familiar little blue bird changed on our phones to an ‘X’ on a black background last month, people haven’t stopped ranting and raving about the biggest change Elon Musk has made to the platform since he took over last year.

And the latest hype follows people now trying to offer iPhones with the initial Twitter app logo design for a hefty price-tag of up to $7,000 on eBay.

The change comes after the Twitter owner took to the social media platform to say: “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow.”

Musk then followed this up with another post explaining that, in time, he would be getting rid of the ‘Twitter brand’ altogether.

“And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” he tweeted.

It’s really the end of an era.

In another tweet, Musk said: “If X is closest in style to anything, it should, of course, be Art Deco.”

In a series of tweets, the recently-announced Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino said: “It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.

“X is the future state of unlimited interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine.

“For years, fans and critics alike have pushed Twitter to dream bigger, to innovate faster, and to fulfill our great potential. X will do that and more. We’ve already started to see X take shape over the past 8 months through our rapid feature launches, but we’re just getting started.

“There’s absolutely no limit to this transformation. X will be the platform that can deliver, well… everything. @elonmusk and I are looking forward to working with our teams and every single one of our partners to bring X to the world.”

Well, in the meantime, social media users are clearly getting nostalgic over the original bird logo after finding out people were trying to sell their old phones with the now somewhat vintage app logo.

Many saw the news as an exciting financial venture with one Twitter user claiming: “That could be a business opportunity.”

A second penned, attempting to flog their own phone for a fat wad of cash, penned: “Wtf. Come get mine for half the price.”

“I got one who wants it,” echoed a third hopeful seller. “I’ll take five grand.”

Others, however, were far from the OG Twitter logo hype with one person hitting out: “Imagine paying for an app.”

“It is not that serious,” claimed another, while one user added: “It’s just a logo get over it now.”

And the rest were pretty much gutted they hadn’t jumped on the bandwagon in time.

“Why didn’t I think of that?” cried out one Twitter user.

Another revealed: “My s*** upgraded on its own!”

“Why did I update!!” quipped a final person.

While it’s not clear whether such phones holding the original Twitter logo have actually been bought yet – it’s definitely a sign that individuals are feeling the social networks nostalgia huge time.
