Cumbrian racing chauffeur Frank Bird effectively safeguarded a leading title at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
Bird and co-driver Jack Morton delighted in another extensive win at the Salford Van Hire Neil Howard Stages Rally held at Oulton Park.
Penrith’s Bird led from start to complete in screening conditions.
In their Dom Buckley Motorsport-prepared Ford Feast Rally2, they completed 12 seconds quicker than their nearby competitor in the opening phase, prior to extending their benefit to 33 seconds by the midway mark.
They continued to control and ultimately won 67 seconds ahead of their nearby competitors, three-time winners Steve Simpson and Chris Williams.
Bird, who won 6 of the 8 phases, stated: “It was another excellent day back at Oulton Park for the Neil Howard Stages which saw us triumph and protect our title.
” Conditions were quite difficult all the time so as soon as we got in the groove of things, we simply kept it cool and neat without any danger and brought it back for the win.
” The cars and truck felt excellent all the time so thanks to the Dom Buckley group and to Jack for an outstanding task as typical. As ever, an enormous thanks to my daddy and our sponsors.”.
Bird’s next trip is at the Swift Indications and T-shirts Winter Season Stages Rally at Croft.
