A wildlife rehabilitation heart has launched a video demonstrating what a pelican truly seems like, and it’s like nothing we’ve ever heard earlier than. Instead of the standard chirp, cluck, or squawk we regularly affiliate with birds, the massive waterfowl emitted one thing extra akin to a dinosaur’s screech! In the caption of their clip, the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) jokingly referred to as their feathered affected person a pterodactyl. However, they clarified that the chook was actually a brown pelican.
According to Cornell Lab’s All About Birds, brown pelicans aren’t all that vocal more often than not. However, they do have a tendency to talk up when dramatically flapping their wings — which the chook within the video seems to be doing. This motion truly drags a gruff sound out of the pelican. Another state of affairs which may trigger this waterbird to make noise can be if somebody have been attacking their nest.
When it involves chook sounds, pelicans aren’t the one feathered animals that can shock you. New Zealand’s kiwi birds even have an odd name that harkens again to prehistoric instances!
