An outbreak of fowl flu has been confirmed close to Forfar.
A 3km safety zone has been launched to the north of the Angus city.
A 10km surveillance zone, which covers each Forfar and Kirriemuir, can be in place.
The supply of the outbreak has not been confirmed.
Angus Council is urging locals who maintain poultry or birds, whilst pets, to take motion.
Those who maintain birds within the safety zone (3km radius) have been advised to electronic mail apha.scotland.apha.gov.uk with contact particulars, or telephone the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) on 03000 6000 704 and select possibility one.
Birdkeepers or farmers within the surveillance zone (10km radius) have been advised to electronic mail [email protected] with contact particulars or telephone 03300 416 589.
A spokesperson mentioned: “A devoted staff will be capable of provide you with extra data on the present outbreak and recommendation that can assist you shield your birds from the illness, in addition to others who maintain birds in your space.
“The avian influenza outbreak is caused by a virus that primarily affects birds. It presents a very low risk to humans and other animals.”
It comes after 50 to 100 useless birds have been being found every day on the seashore at Lunan Bay final month.
