Early bird tickets have actually gone on sale for the 23rd Shackleton Autumn School in Athy.
The yearly occasion is typically kept in the Shackleton Museum, which is closed for restorations, so this year’s Autumn School will be kept in the gorgeous surrounds of The Abbey on Stanhope Street. It will range from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 October

The programme for this year’s Autumn School consists of a talk on Endurance by maritime archaeologist Mensun Bound, Director of Exploration on the Endurance22 Expedition which found Ernest Shackleton’s lost ship in Antarctica after more than a century.
