Kawartha Lakes –  In the final 50 years, North American chook populations have dropped by greater than 25 p.c. Want to study how one can be part of making Kawartha Lakes “Bird Friendly”? The Kawartha Lakes Environmental Advisory Committee and Bird Friendly Peterborough & Kawartha Lakes are happy to current free chook conservation workshops on the Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon public library branches this fall.

Being Bird-Friendly workshop
Wednesday September 20, 2pm,  Bobcaygeon library department
Tuesday October 3 at 2pm, Fenelon Falls library department

Participants will learn to correctly take care of the feeders and waterers that maintain birds. Members of the general public can herald their very own yard feeder and talk about how it may be improved. Everyone will obtain a “Backyard Bird How-To” with directions on correctly take care of feeders and waterers.  One fortunate participant will take home a chook secure feeder.

Minimizing Threats to Birds workshop
Wednesday October 4, 2pm, Bobcaygeon library department
Tuesday October 24, 2pm Fenelon Falls library department

Participants will hear about a number of the high threats to birds, together with lights, home windows and cats. Participants will study doable options that may assist make a distinction and can apply making home windows chook secure with Feather-Friendly DIY tape to take home.
