A chook strike at a substation prompted a serious energy outage in Tralee this morning.
The fault occurred at Ballyrickard at 10.15am, and resulted in over 7,500 (7,549) houses and companies within the city being with out electrical energy.
There had been studies of a loud bang on the time of the outage.
ESB Networks says the fault was brought on by a chook strike on the Ballyrickard substation.
Its crews mobilised rapidly and had energy restored to all prospects by 12 midday.
ESB Networks has apologised for the disruption to household and business life.
