Homeowner known as RSPCA after witnessing footage

The resident who posted the footage on-line mentioned he contacted the RSPCA after he discovered what had occurred in his entrance yard. He claims the plover’s eggs have been retrieved from his bin and given to the RSPCA who confirmed to Yahoo News a cruelty report was lodged on the time.

The resident mentioned he had warned the employees of the nesting plover previous to their arrival on November 14.

“He messaged to say he was coming the following day and we advised him that there was a plover nesting there and to not try this aspect,” the resident wrote.

Online Aussies condemned the person calling the act “merciless” and a “shame”.

Criminal investigation underway

It has been confirmed a prison investigation is being carried out by The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).

“The NPWS is conscious of this incident and has been working with the RSPCA on the prison investigation,” a spokesperson advised Yahoo News. “The on-line footage is stunning and intensely upsetting.”

Like all native animals, plovers are protected below the National Parks and Wildlife Act and harming them is an offence, with a most penalty of over $14,000.
