Copies of winning art work from the 20th yearly Student Bird Art Contest — kept in combination with the Godwit Days celebration — are on display screen in May and June at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center, 569 South G St., Arcata. All are welcomed to go to a complimentary cookies-and-punch reception at the center on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
The contest, cosponsored by Friends of the Arcata Marsh and the Redwood Region Audubon Society, received 650 entries from trainees in kindergarten through 12th grade throughout Humboldt County.
Those who received prize money — the very first- through third-place winners divided into age classifications and 5 finest bird in environment awards, along with respectable points out — will be consisted of in the exhibit.
Shows at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center including regional art and photography are sponsored by Friends of the Arcata Marsh. The Interpretive Center is open to the general public Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more details, call 707-826-2359.
