RTE journalist Charlie Bird has opened up about his almost 20-year relationship along with his spouse Claire Mould and the way he was a ‘bag of nerves’ on their marriage ceremony day.
The 74-year-old, who was recognized with Motor Neurone Disease in 2021, appeared on Brendan O’Connor’s RTE radio show the place he spoke candidly about his situation and the way he’s ‘not afraid of dying’.

Charlie stated: ‘Claire and myself have been collectively for almost 19 years now, 17 of them have been full of affection, pleasure, and journey. The final two and a half years, however, have been very difficult for us, as we’ve been studying to dwell with my terminal sickness, MND.

The veteran reporter spoke about how they each ‘burst out laughing’ once they first noticed one another on their marriage ceremony day.
