Charlie Bird has made a “major decision” in an attempt to improve his quality of life as he continues his battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
He shared an emotional health update with followers that his decision “won’t prolong his life, however it would enhance his high quality of life”.
The former RTÉ information correspondent shared a tweet with a video of his canine Tiger.
He revealed that he’s going to have a feeding tube put into his abdomen as his illness is “so bad now”. The process will take place subsequent week.
“It will assist me to increase the hand of friendship to folks in darkish place,” the mentioned on Twitter/X.
His followers expressed their assist within the feedback.

In an earlier tweet, the previous broadcaster mentioned he hopes this choice will allow him to proceed supporting Pieta House, IMNDA, the Samaritans, and hospice care.
Mr Bird was identified with Motor Neurone Disease in 2021.
Despite his sickness, he began his personal charity ClimbwithCharlie. Last April, alongside together with his supporters, he climbed Croagh Patrick to lift consciousness of the battles confronted by folks with terminal sicknesses.
He raised greater than €3.2m for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.
