Former broadcaster Charlie Bird has appealed to the general public to help his spouse after his loss of life as he continues to battle Motor Neuron Disease.
The veteran broadcaster made a direct attraction to his followers on social media to assist his spouse Claire and canine Tiger to proceed “extending the hand of friendship”.
“I want to make a direct appeal to everyone who supports climbwithcharlie, when I pass, please help my lovely wife Claire and Tiger to continue the work of extending the hand of friendship to people in dark places and the charities I support,” he shared on X, previously Twitter.
“I really love you all.”
Many of Charlie’s followers expressed their help within the feedback.
One fan stated: “Your strength and courage is remarkable and inspirational, of course we will keep supporting Claire and Tiger and the charities close your heart. It’s a strong heart tho. Sending more strength and love.”
Another wrote: “You are a true inspiration Charlie, and your legacy of friendship and hope will be a long one.”
The former RTÉ information correspondent was identified with MND in 2021 and has develop into an advocate for folks residing with terminal sicknesses.
His charity, ClimbwithCharlie, was not too long ago awarded by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar for a Best Non-For-Profit Campaign on the World Public Relations and Communications Awards 2023.
