Bird Wise East Kent has actually coordinated with Thanet Coast Project to stage a pop-up exhibit for the 2nd year running.
Hundreds of images were sent when the competitors opened in October with images for classifications:
- seaside wildlife
- bold lots – migratory birds that visit our coast in the winter season
- good seaside conduct – individuals doing things to benefit our coast
- human effect – how individuals’s activities have actually been damaging to our coast
- seaside landscape
- smart sea dogs – individuals and their dogs utilizing the coast without troubling wildlife
- under 12s
- under 19s
Michael Lee, from Bird Wise East Kent, Thanet professional photographer Frank Leppard and island nature specialist Keith Ross carried out the massive job of picking the winners and runners up.
Michael said: “Entries were a good requirement and it was really challenging to whittle them down to 2 or 3 (per classification) never ever mind pick a winner.
“In the wildlife and bird classifications there were most likely 50 images for each.
“Last year our exhibition was in March-April and we had lots of people but hope there will be even more this year with it running through the summer and the holidays.”
Winners and runners up for each classification, and a total winner, will have their images on display screen at;
Crab Museum, Margate – 17th July – 21st July with the awards event happening on the night of the 21st

York Street Gallery, Ramsgate – second August – 9th August
Droit House Visitor Centre, Margate – 11th August – 29th August
Horsebridge, Whitstable – 31st August – 12th September
