The countdown is on till Killarney National Park’s Dawn Chorus occasion, filling the Kerry air with the melodic noise of birds.
Beginning right before 5am on Saturday, May 6, the efficiency will see the cloisters of Muckross Abbey “come alive with bird song”.
The chorus, accompanying Pieta’s Darkness into Light occasion, will last thirty minutes at either side of the daybreak.
The musical symphony will begin with the tune of a robin, followed by the soft tones of the blackbird, then the tunes of thrushes, wood pigeons, wrens, warblers, sparrows, and finches.
The live-stream occasion exists by the preservation rangers of Killarney National Park and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
The occasion will include bird specialist Sam Bayley, who will determine the native bird tune of Skellig Michael, the puffin, kittiwakes, gannets and razorbills.
Conservation rangers Sean Forde and Jess Burkitt will play recognizing bird tune on Innisfallen island.
