Bird parenting is topic of next Backyard Birding event
Hear from Ken Wiersema about parent birds’ roles in protecting, feeding, and leading their offspring as they grow and leave their nests at “Out of the Nest,” the next Backyard Birding series event set for 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 3, in the Rainshadow Hall at Dungeness River Nature Center, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road.
Late spring and early summer are vulnerable times in the life of fledglings, event organizers say. Presenters will expand on how different species vary in raising their young. Attendees will gain an understanding of changing food needs in early bird development and will learn ways to make their yards more inviting and less hazardous for young fledglings.
Admission to the series is free; however, a suggested $5 donation per person helps support ongoing education and bird conservation programs.
Note: current COVID-19 health precautions as recommended by Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and Clallam County Public Health will be followed for the protection of our attendees and volunteer staff.
