A police inspector has informed the BBC how he was the primary to be tricked by a chook mimicking the sound of a siren.
But following investigations, the perpetrator was discovered to be a chook.
The native wildlife belief stated the male blackbird was making the noise to each entice a mate in addition to warn different males away from its territory.
Insp Hills, from the roads policing unit, stated: “I sat at my desk after a weekend off and within the distance I may hear the faint sound of what seemed like a police siren and, as a result of we restore a number of police automobiles right here, I believed it was perhaps one which was faulty and the battery was beginning to go flat.”
“I got here exterior and appeared up into the timber and I may see the chook up within the timber, clearly mimicking the sirens in a very skilled manner.”
When requested whether or not the “jailbird” must be arrested for impersonating a police automobile, Insp Hills stated: “If it begins to place a uniform on and use a few of its policing powers then we’d have to take a look at it.”
Other followers on X, previously referred to as Twitter, replied asking if the chook was a part of “particular department” or the “flying squad”.
Phil Bruss, from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, stated: “The objective of the birdsong is to attain two main issues for the blackbird, it is attempting to promote its health to a mate, to the females, and it is also attempting to warn different males out of its territory.
“So it is successfully a mix of sitting on the high of the tree shouting chat-up strains and likewise chanting ‘come and have a go for those who assume you are onerous sufficient’.”
