In a grim revelation, Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) has introduced that an estimated 30% of the island’s Northern Gannet inhabitants has succumbed to chook flu.
The charity believes the inhabitants has “not recovered” from an outbreak in 2022, which killed a whole bunch of the birds.
AWT initially thought the remaining gannets would recolonise the islands in 2023, however AWT’s Paul Belben stated the gradual velocity of restoration was not an entire shock.
