Mayor Alfredo Abelardo ‘Albee’ Benitez here and Guv Eugenio Jose Lacson just recently provided a joint executive order developing the standards for the entry of all live domestic and wild birds into the city and the province.
The executive order specified an overall restriction covering Luzon, Mindanao, Panay, and Guimaras.
It mentioned the Department of Farming which reported verified cases of HPAI in the province of Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Laguna, Benguet, North Cotabto, South Cotabato, Maguindanao, Isabela, Camiguin, and Panay.
Exceptions are permitted for raw poultry meat (both processed and unprocessed), day-old chicks and hatching eggs, consisting of broiler, layer, and breeder, and embryonated eggs (commonly understood as ‘balut’).
These items will be permitted entry despite shipping origin topic to compliance with requirements, based upon the executive order.
Benitez and Lacson stated that the joint executive order was provided to balance the policies in relation to the stated matter.
Both leaders worried that it is their method to protect the poultry market and the public from the ill impacts of the bird influenza illness.
The province is amongst the leading poultry-producing provinces in the nation with its P8-billion poultry market.
The executive order likewise specified that veterinary inspectors are licensed to obstruct the entry and seize live domestic and wild birds, and their items from limited areas throughout the conduct of assessment at seaports, airports, and other points of entry.
All regional president were likewise directed to enhance biosafety, health, and sanitation requirements in poultry dressing plants, live bird markets, and poultry farms in their particular locations of jurisdiction
