Bryce Dooley, DVM, MS DACVAA: The hardest half [of polo] is working in unison with my physique and hitting the ball, and giving clear directives to the horse. So we are able to do that safely, and do that effectively. But I feel probably the most difficult half is simply being okay with being unhealthy at one thing. And recognizing that, hopefully, I’ll get higher with time.
My favourite half is totally the teamwork with the horse, the teamwork with the group members, and technique. And truthfully, simply the superb people who I’ve met each from this space, and people who I’ve met touring to do that, it has simply been a beautiful, fantastic expertise.
And kind of tying in with the entire thing of, it is exhausting to strive one thing new and be unhealthy at it and be okay with that. The largest life lesson I’ve discovered is that one, do not be afraid to strive one thing new simply because it is new. Go out and do it, you might have a good time, identical to I’m. And the second factor I’ve discovered is that you’re going to miss the ball (and that is each, actually and metaphorically). Starting out, I missed the ball on a regular basis. And you are like, ‘Ugh, I missed the ball.’ But these excellent gamers remind me that you’re going to miss the ball. No matter how good these gamers get, they sometimes miss the ball. And it isn’t a giant deal. You flip round, you rejoin your group, and you retain shifting ahead.
