Traveling with your pets can make for happy memories and one-of-a-kind experiences. Fortunately, many hotels have recognized the importance of animals and offer unique adventures for our furry friends. Here are some of the best pet-friendly hotels you can stay at.

Kimpton Hotels

Kimpton Hotels, part of the IHG Hotels and Resorts family, allow you to bring your pets for free. You also don’t need to pay an extra deposit. And it’s not just cats and dogs—birds, fish, scaley friends, and other pets are welcome. There is no size or weight limit. There is also no limit to the number of pets allowed.

Hotel amenities can include pet beds, pet bowls with food and water, and mats. Guests also get complimentary access to Wag! Premium, which connects owners to pet caregivers available in the area. Hotels also have a list of recommended pet-friendly activities that you can visit.

Kimpton, a boutique hotel, has 75+ hotels in more than 55 cities in North America, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Homewood Suites And Home2 Suites By Hilton

If your trip is going to be longer, Homewood Suites or Home2 Suites by Hilton may be the option you’re looking for. With upscale apartment-style rooms, these properties became 100% pet-friendly in early 2022 in the United States and Canada. Since rooms come with kitchens, it is easier to store pet food and medications, if needed.

Many properties have pet bowls, treats, waste bags and resources on where to go while exploring your destination with your pet. This can include local eateries that are pet-friendly, pet stores, parks and veterinarians. Hilton also partners with Mars Petcare, which provides online support to pet owners.

Unfortunately, there are pet fees that start at $50 per stay. Prices and limitations vary based on the location.

Virgin Hotels

Though there are a limited number of locations, Virgin Hotels allow you to bring your pets for free, with no size or breed restrictions. Pet-friendly chambers, dog beds, food, water dishes, treats and a Virgin Hotels bandana are available for your fur baby.

Virgin Hotels are located in Dallas, Nashville, Chicago, Las Vegas, New Orleans, New York City, Glasgow (UK) and Edinburgh (UK). Miami and Denver locations are also expected in 2025.

Staypineapple

Another option to consider is Staypineapple if you want a dog-friendly hotel. Amenities include a dog bed, treat tin, water bowl and waste bags. While there is a nightly pet fee (that varies by location), you can book a Pup Plus One package to get pet fees waived through February 2023.

The Staypineapple hotel chain is growing but is only available in Chicago, San Fransisco, New York City, Boston, Seattle, Portland and San Diego.

Element Hotels By Westin

Element Hotels, part of the Marriott Bonvoy family, are designed for eco-conscious travelers and their dogs weighing up to 40 pounds. Their Love that Dog program includes a special dog bed, food, bowl, waste supplies, and more. Pet fees vary by location, though some Westin properties do not charge a pet fee.

Rooms come with kitchens to make healthy foods and breakfast options include fresh fruit and granola. Bicycles are also available for use, free of charge.

Motel 6

If you’re on a road trip and need a place to rest, note that Motel 6 lets up to two well-behaved pets stay with you for free (Studio 6 locations do have fees). With many locations around the United States, this option is also budget-friendly.

Motel 6 also partners with Patriot Paws to help connect military veterans with service dogs. They even have a pet playlist on Spotify to help ease any travel stress for your pet.

Summary

Traveling with pets doesn’t have to be costly or complicated. Many hotels offer pet amenities or resources at no additional cost. However, policies vary by destination, so check with your hotel before booking to be sure that your buddy will also be able to enjoy their stay.
