Stay Cool with VIA’s Free Rides to City Facilities as Temperatures Rise

VIA will offer fare-free service to locations where individuals can remain cool established by the City of San Antonio, consisting of designated town libraries, senior centers, recreation center, public swimming pools and splashpads throughout San Antonio, when temperature levels strike 100 degrees.

Please note: most City of San Antonio centers will be closed on Monday, June 19, in observance of Juneteeth (see info listed below), however will use 14 areas to remain cool.

UNIQUE NOTIFICATION

The City of San Antonio will observe Juneteenth on Monday June 19. Most city centers are closed and in anticipation of severe heat on Monday, the City is opening 14 locations for homeowners to remain cool (noted below). These centers will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. In the occasion somebody gets here with an animal, Animal Care Services will offer a kennel.

When does VIA use complimentary flights to Places to Stay Cool?

VIA will use fare-fare complimentary services on VIA busVIA Link or VIAtrans service when temperature levels reach 100 degrees and the City of San Antonio’s Places to Stay cool are open. Call 311 or see SanAntonio.gov to find out more.

Who certifies?

Any individual who requires transport to or from among the city’s centers can ride fare-free on THROUGH.

VIA BUS guests need to notify the operator they are taking a trip to a cooling center when they board.

THROUGH LINK guests are motivated to reserve their journey by phone and notify the reservation representative they are taking a trip to or from of the city’s area. Please likewise notify the operator when boarding.  Call (210) 655-Link [5465] to reach a VIA Link representative.

VIAtrans customers are enabled to make same-day appointments for cooling locations just. Passengers should already be signed up VIAtrans customers to utilize this service. Anyone needing help to take a trip and are not VIAtrans customers need to call 311 to organize transport.

Can by means of choice me up at my residence?

VIA Bus and VIA Link service to cooling centers will run per typical and are not door-to-door services. Passengers need to utilize existing bus stops or by means of link virtual stops for their journeys. VIAtrans customers can reserve same-day journeys, following the typical procedure.
