BENNINGTON — On Jan. 1, round 7 or 8 p.m., a feminine husky combine named Luna went lacking within the Bennington space.

Garrison Family Pet Transport LLC, a Texas transport company, was bringing the newly-adopted canine from a kill shelter within the Dallas space to its new home in Maine.

Laura Landean, who lives in Texas, went to highschool with the brand new proprietor – and was instrumental in establishing the adoption.

“I’m originally from Maine, born and raised,” mentioned Landean. “My friend, Sarah Chenery, is really into helping dogs and she asked me, ‘Could you do me a favor? Could you get me this dog?’”

The canine in query was Luna.

“Sarah found the dog at the Dallas animal services kill shelter, a place where they euthanize the dogs because they have too many – and she really wanted to help her,” mentioned Landean.

Chenery made preparations for Luna to be spayed after which transported to Maine, by means of Garrison. Before being handed over to the transport company, although, Landean picked her up from the vet and introduced her to a boarding home.

“When I was with her for the first few hours – I picked her up from the shelter and brought her to the vet, and then from the vet I brought her to the boarding house, which is a place where she could be housed until she would move on to her next destination,” defined Landean.

“While I had her – it was myself and my husband and my son, who is six. She was sad, but she wasn’t timid. She let the vet check her out, so she’s not afraid of people. She let my son love on her. She was gentle.”

“Now, she must be so scared.”

According to Landean, Luna was transported by Garrison Family Pet Transport from Texas to Vermont.

They have been anticipated to proceed Luna’s transport to Chenery in Maine once they stopped at Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell in Bennington. There, they tried to let Luna out of the crate to alleviate herself, however Luna ran off.

Luna has been free within the Bennington space for almost three weeks now, and there have been a number of sightings.

“We’re asking people to call (802) 357-3755, which goes to Central Vermont Canine Recovery,” mentioned Landean. Central Vermont Canine Recovery, is an organization that Landean says was employed by Garrison Family Pet Transport to seek out Luna after 10 days of Luna being out on her personal.

They are asking individuals to not strategy her, in the event that they see her. They simply need individuals to report sightings.

“Right now, she’s in a flight mode, and she’s just going to run and get scared, and we don’t want her to leave the area she is currently in.”

Landean and Chenery are frightened that if somebody have been to scare her out of the two-mile radius that she continues to be sighted in, she would possibly transfer on and the canine restoration firm would lose monitor of her.

“Luna is currently in the Bennington area, and feeding stations have been set up in the area where she has been sighted. The plan is that she will be able to be captured at one of these,” said Landean.

“Sarah’s mother-in-law is currently staying in Bennington and waiting for Luna to be caught,” she mentioned. “And then, she’s going to personally transport her the rest of the way to Maine.”

“Monday will be three weeks that she’s been out there … It’s so sad. I feel responsible for this dog and, if something happens to her, and my friend never gets to meet her …” Landean trailed off, clearly worrying.

“I will do everything I can to ensure she makes it to her home. I feel helpless in some ways because I’m here in Texas, and Luna is there,” mentioned Landean. “We’re just hoping she can be caught.”

The Central Vermont Canine Recovery firm will proceed to situation updates and statements on Facebook.
