Darren Prouten, who was when referred to as 1 of the Island’s most respected wrongdoers, has actually been imprisoned for 27 weeks and handed a 903-day driving restriction extension following his latest theft and car offenses.
40-year-old Prouten, of no set residence, was visited officers whilst he was driving a BMW in Meadowside, Newport on sixth March this year. He was detained and consequently charged with driving without insurance coverage and driving whilst disqualified.
Prouten was likewise charged with additional counts of driving without insurance coverage and driving whilst disqualified in relation to an occurrence on Brading Road, Ryde on 21st February.
In addition, Prouten was charged with theft from an automobile in relation to a car water resistant cover that was taken in Newport on 18th August in 2015, and 3 counts of shoplifting.

In 2019 Darren Prouten was imprisoned for 17 months for a series of other theft and car offenses. Then, in December 2020, he was handed a 16-week jail sentence for driving whilst disqualified.
