UTB and Tuscan Capital expand broker support teams – round-up

United Trust Bank has built its asset finance sales team with the appointment of Lauren McQuilken (pictured) as broker relationship manager.

She will develop and manage relationships with brokers across the south of England.

McQuilken joins from Metro Bank Asset Finance, where she was a business development director for nearly seven years. There she held similar responsibilities to the role she will take up at UTB.

In 2021, she was also the winner of The Leasing Foundation 30 Under 30 initiative and in the year before, he won the Leasing World ‘Extra Mile’ Award. She is also an ambassador for the Leasing Foundation’s Next Generation initiative.

McQuilken said: “UTB has really shaken up the market in the last two years and I’m excited to be joining a team which has delivered exceptional growth in a challenging economic environment and has great plans for the future.

“I also admire UTB’s commitment to building close direct relationships between brokers and credit which is bucking the trend amongst funders but enables them to agree and complete deals many of their competitors wouldn’t.

“And I’m really looking forward to working with my former colleagues Nathan Mollett and Kerry Stuart again and helping the team achieve their ambitious 2023 plans.”

Astrid Michael, head of sales – asset finance, UTB, added: “2022 was another record year for UTB Asset Finance and January is already off to a busy start. Lauren is a highly motivated professional with a proven track record and she’s an excellent addition to our successful team.

“With the switch to our new Alfa-powered technology platform also going well, I’m excited about what we can all achieve together in 2023.”

Tuscan Capital appoints Ward

Tuscan Capital has appointed Mason Ward as regional sales manager for south London and the south of England.

He joins from LakeShield Capital where he was a business development manager.

Ward has over five years of experience in business development.

He will report into Colin Sanders, Tuscan Capital’s chief executive.

Sanders said: “We felt that Mason’s enthusiasm and energy would make him an ideal fit for the team here at Tuscan.

“Until now we hadn’t found anyone to specifically focus on looking after intermediaries in the south of England, so with Mason being based in Surrey and covering south London to the south coast, from Kent to Dorset, we feel he has plenty of opportunities to successfully spread the word and develop the Tuscan brand.”

Ward added: “I’m very pleased to be starting at Tuscan Capital. I chose to join them as I believe their products prove that they are a forward thinking, creative lender; it’s now my job to shout it from the rooftops.”
