Shirva: Two individuals have been bitten by a rabid canine that has been on a rampage within the Bantakal space for the previous few days.
Bantakal Nagarika Samiti President Okay R Patkar requested the locals to be cautious and watch out for aggressive stray dogs. and take sufficient precautions.
A canine with a black and white collar has bitten round 25 dogs within the space. it’s suspected that the canine could also be rabid and there’s a risk that these dogs may be contaminated by the rabies virus within the subsequent 10-15 days. In these circumstances, the general public, particularly college students needs to be cautious, Patkar mentioned.
Some organizations within the space underneath the management of Dr Arun Hegde had undertaken initiatives to vaccinate the stray canine inhabitants in Bantakal and Herur areas in opposition to rabies. However, the incidence of rabies has prompted recent issues.
Locals say they’re confused about whom to report circumstances of rabies. “We are unsure about whom to contact in case of a rabid dog bite. Which department takes care of the stray dogs? Should we report it to the panchayat, police, animal husbandry, or the health department?” they requested.
Meanwhile, the Veterinary officer of Shirva Dr Arun Kumar Hegde requested individuals of the world to maintain their pet dogs leashed. Pet animals needs to be given rabies vaccination with out fail not less than every year.
