Police have actually taken a got away ferret into custody after the animal was identified running around the streets after dark.
A beady-eyed officer from Durham City Police spotted a “unusual beastie” running around on Sherburn Road, in Gilesgate, after dark on January 15.
After pursuing the animal on foot, the officer, Annabelle Chambers, understood the worried animal was an escapee ferret – more than likely a family pet from a home in the location.
