Warrington animal charity struggling to remain open points plea for assist

“AN animal charity that’s struggling to remain open has issued a plea for assist.

RSPCA Warrington, Halton, and St Helens Branch cares for animals which are victims of the worst circumstances of abuse.

There are at present 350 dogs on the ready listing for the Slutchers Lane website resulting from growing ranges of abuse and neglect.

Recently, one poor canine was even deserted on the centre’s gates throughout the worst of a storm.

The centre has 12 canine kennels, three canine isolation kennels, 18 cat pens, and 4 cat isolation pens.

But the self-funded RSPCA department, which depends closely on fundraising, is struggling to make ends meet.

Each month, it prices round £30,000 to run the location and nearly all of funds are reliant on donations and fundraising.

Branch help supervisor Kevin McFarlane advised the Warrington Guardian how eBay gross sales of donated objects, carnivals and gala’s are the primary supply of revenue.

But this isn’t sufficient.

“As an area, self-funded department of the RSPCA we rely closely on fundraising to assist us look after the handfuls of animals we rehome and rehabilitate,” mentioned Kevin.
