2 charity suppers to commemorate the life of a popular business person raised a significant amount of money for charity.

Estate Agent Simon Colligan died in late 2022 from Oesophageal cancer at the age of 54.

Two commemorate his life, the Crown Inn at Cholderton held 2 supper occasions and warmly invited Simon’s friends and family. In overall, £4,300 was raised for the Salisbury Hospice Charity.

Luke at the Cholderton Inn said: “The idea came about because I wanted to give something back to such a decent, kind and considerate person as so many people had crossed paths with Simon at some point or another over the years.

“So along with Simon’s family, we came up with a superb three-course menu and the event was set in motion which included a fantastic raffle and an auction of a flight experience in a WW2 Chipmunk aircraft itself raised £300.”

Simon’s spouse Alison said: “Simon would have been truly humbled and astounded at the amount raised over the two evenings.

“He was one of the most genuine and kindest people you could ever meet so raising funds for a charity that cared for him in the last weeks of his life enabling him to remain at home with his family around him is something he would approve of wholeheartedly.

She added: “The Hospice costs £2.9 million a year to run, of this. the Charity has to raise £1.5 million a year itself to ensure the daily costs of functioning are met which equates to £4,166 per day, so every penny raised really is crucial.

“We feel incredibly humbled that Luke and Dave approached us with such a grand idea and we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to them both and the staff at The Crown Inn for their hard work in making these two evenings a complete success and of course, to everyone who joined us on the two evenings.”

Raffle rewards were contributed by good friends and regional businesses and consisted of:

Smith England, JMF Plumbing & Heating, Hideaway Garage Amesbury, Charlotte Churchill Hair Studio, Vita Skin Spa, Finishing Touches Durrington, Bookers Salisbury, Cooper Foods Andover, Avon Security, Paul Jaycock & SPS Painting & Building Contractors, Simon Colligan Estate Agents,
Miles Apart, Greenfields Farm Shop, Jo & Linda Butler, Suzie Iles Whitton, Jo Broom, Sandie Buxcey, Darren Grinter, Dave Coker, Andrew Bloom and Rodger Seaman.
