Michigan State Police have been in a position to rescue a Traverse City man in Grand Traverse County, with the assistance of his canine.

On Thursday at 11:45 a.m., Motor Carrier Officer Kammeron Bennetts responded to a name of a 65-year-old man who had fallen by way of the ice in Arbutus Lake in East Bay Township.

Police inform us MCO Bennetts arrived on the scene, grabbed a rescue disc, and went out on the ice.

MCO Bennetts noticed the person within the frozen water together with his canine, Ruby, subsequent to him.

MCO Bennetts couldn’t attain the person and requested him to ship Ruby over.

Ruby ran to MCO Bennetts and he hooked up the rescue disc to the canine’s collar and instructed the person to name his canine.

MCO Bennetts instructed the person to take the disc from Ruby and begin kicking his legs.

MCO Bennetts, together with a Grand Traverse Metro firefighter pulled the person to security and he was taken to Munson Medical Center for therapy and later launched.

Police inform us he was within the water for 16 minutes, including that the fast actions of MCO Bennetts and assist from Ruby made the rescue doable
