TAG Pet Rescue, the Thanet-based animal shelter, is requesting help to pay veterinarians expenses of £3700 following a mass rescue of 20 really sickly bunnies from an alarming circumstance.
Ashen Oleander, Sanctuary Supervisor from TAG Pet Rescue, said: “We were called by somebody who had actually gotten a a great deal of bunnies that they might not care for. We had no space at the sanctuary however were so worried about the circumstance we went to the property to exercise how to help.
“It was immediately obvious that the rabbits desperately needed saving – they were in cramped, overcrowded and extremely unsanitary conditions. There were unneutered males and females living together, signs of in-fighting and lots of infection and disease. It was truly heart-breaking to see.”
TAG Pet Rescue rapidly eliminated all bunnies from the property and took them for medical attention to Briar House veterinarians, who confessed the most extreme cases. Many of the bunnies would have passed away if it wasn’t for such fast and skilled healthcare.
Several of the bunnies were particularly improperly:
- One had actually collapsed and was not able to stand
- Two were greatly pregnant in spite of looking malnourished
- Two were painfully thin with raw abscesses and matted fur
- Four had blood leaking from their aching eyes
As TAG does not have space for all the bunnies, short-term space has actually been supplied by a number of other saves.
Ashen said: “While the bunnies are all safe now, we require £3700 to cover the cost of their treatment up until now and for all the bunnies to be sterilized on Saturday 17th June.
“Please extra anything you can to help us chip away at our incredible bunny charges. We couldn’t leave those little souls to suffer in silence and require financial backing to provide the continuous care they should have.
“Any amount makes a difference.”
