Thurso’s provost Struan Mackie talked concerning the “cack-handed planning and communication” from the Scottish SPCA over the closure of its animal centre at Balmore.
Cllr Mackie, who’s a Highland councillor for Thurso and Northwest Caithness, talked about his disappointment over the charity’s determination to shut its Caithness and Sutherland Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Balmore.

The SSPCA stated that its native inspectorate crew will stay in place and is readily available to reply to any pressing report of an animal in want. Campaigners are demanding a rethink by the nationwide animal welfare charity. A Save Balmore group has attracted greater than 1500 members on Facebook, whereas a petition to avoid wasting the centre has gathered over 3700 signatures.
