A person has been arrested and several other dogs seized after police raided properties as a part of their crackdown on rural crime.
Police officers raided the addresses at Tay Court, Barrow and Devonshire Road, Millom on Wednesday.
A 25-year-old man from Millom was arrested on suspicion of offences below the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Police seized various dogs from two premises and positioned them within the care of the RSPCA.
Cumbria Constabulary’s rural crime group, which launched final month, was supported by officers from Whitehaven and Barrow Neighbourhood Policing Teams, North and West Tactical Support, Dog Handler and the RSPCA.
Wildlife crime PC, Samantha O’Key, mentioned: “Working in partnership with the RSPCA and different animal welfare companies permits us to efficiently perform investigations into those who would trigger animals to undergo, and we’ll proceed to work in partnership to carry these people to account.
“We would encourage anyone with concerns for the welfare of animals to report it to police or the RSPCA, so we can investigate and bring those committing wildlife offences to account.”
