With a mixed complete of 1078 days in care, RSPCA WA has chosen its 12 Strays of Christmas for 2023.

Every 12 months, the animal welfare organisation highlights the plight of a dozen animals who’ve both been ready a very long time for adoption or are the kind of pet that’s historically a bit more durable to re-home.

Four dogs, 4 cats, a guinea pig, a rabbit, a duck, and a rooster have made this 12 months’s record and all they need for Christmas is a loving home.

RSPCA WA shelter co-ordinator Richelle Beswick mentioned it was at all times laborious to see animals missed nevertheless it hit a little bit more durable at Christmas time.

“It’s the time of year when we feel like everyone should have a shot at love and somewhere to belong; we want that for the animals too,” Ms Beswick mentioned.

“Take Rhonda for instance. She is a firm staff favourite with her gentle ways and intelligent eyes, but she’s been here since mid-July, waiting nearly six months for someone to choose her.

“Then there’s Rocky the rooster and his bevy of beauties. We know roosters are difficult to re-home because of restrictions in suburbia, so we’re really hoping a kindhearted person on a bigger property will see this and give this handsome man and his girlfriends a chance.

“It’s so sad to come to work every day and see the same animals here. Our wish would be to see all our long-termers in a loving home for Christmas.”
