A “PAW-FECT” Gold Coast beach house left entirely to the RSPCA sold under the hammer for a whopping $2.7 million over the weekend.
The deceased estate at 28 Arthur St, Mermaid Beach was left to the charity by the previous owner and went to auction through Ray White Burleigh Group’s Summer Auction Event.

It was the headline sale of the day with the proceeds going entirely to the RSPCA.
“That’s a terrific result for the charity,” said Ray White Burleigh Group CEO Tiger Malan.
“It actually sold for $450,000 above reserve – that’s 20 per cent above expectations.
“It’s most likely a knockdown but it could be renovated.
“That sale price is all based on location, it’s just 200m from Mermaid Beach in one of the most exclusive pockets on the Coast.”

The Mermaid Beach house is on a 405sq m block and is 200m from the beach.
It’s understood the late owner had been on the title since 1983 when it sold for $79,950.
All up, $30 million worth of property changed hands at Ray White Burleigh Group’s Summer Auction Event on Saturday with 11 lots still under negotiation.
Twenty-six homes sold under the hammer with the event pulling 144 registered bidders and more than 300 people.

Mr Malan said the result was proof the Gold Coast’s prestige market wasn’t slowing down.
“Demand is still incredibly strong for anything by the beach,” he said.
“The vast majority of the properties that sold are in those sought after coastal suburbs – Burleigh, Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise – and that’s no coincidence.
“$30 million in sales, and counting, shows the Gold Coast is still very much hot property.
“The region is bucking the Australian trend of a real estate downturn, certainly when it comes to prestige property in those beachside locations.”
The clearance rate for the event was 60 per cent as of Sunday.
